Administrative Matters – Apologies and Approval of Minutes Meeting begins at 17.27[1] . BPW and EG are absent with apologies. MG and GoSz are absent. 1. Budget 2022 (JO) JO explained that: the budget had not changed much since it was published; societies are getting more than less year, but less than they requested; the Corpus Challenge is being part-funded by students and only a few students have opted out; the JCR Committee requested less money; subject drinks will go ahead; and that Sky has been cancelled. All of which leaves us with a One Off Purchase fund of £3000 not £4000 as last year.[2] JO noted that the MCR has received more due to inflation, but that JO will work with the MCR and the senior treasurer to find a more sustainable way to fund the MCR as the ratio of JCR to MCR members changes. Alex Mann questioned whether the squash fund covers alcoholic drinks and JO said he’d check this. JO subsequently noted that it does cover alcoholic drinks. Vote to approve the JCR budget: 27 in favour, 1 abstention[3] ________________ 2. Any other business IM asked that people leave photos and comments for the room ballot, which can even be done for rooms they lived in in previous years.[4] MW explained that there will be more details on the Corpus Challenge soon, as they come from the Oxford group, though this may be either slower or faster than expected as they have all got covid.[5] Alex Mann explained that the May Ball committee had been following the previous year’s policy on cheque deposits for May Ball workers and, after discussion with the JCR President and Vice President, has decided not to use that policy. Meeting ends at 17.34 ________________ [1] Molly Dewar is the Queen of democracy because even on crutches she finally brought us quorum [2] We must all worship the budgetary magic that our JCR treasurer has worked to allow us to reach this point [3] 3 proxy votes were cast [4] Or, if your room will be for a first year, you can give them tips on maximising their benefit from it [5] Once more - please do not throw up on the bus
