Welcome!

Continue scrolling to meet the Officers on the 2024 JCR Committee! Feel free to contact them, if you are a current, previous or prospective undergraduate, about any concerns that you may have :)

President: Jess Morrissey

Hi! I’m Jess!! Ur new JCR pres! I’m very excited about the year ahead! As JCR pres I’m ur point of contact if you have any concerns. I’m big on communication and transparency, and I’m happy to answer any questions and love hearing new ideas! Contrary to popular belief I am actually here for a degree in Bio NatSci (but please don’t hold it against me). I love weird animals (especially Ruth), most music, and like a proper northerner I love a good brew and a natter.

Vice President: Aoife Sargent

Hi my name is Aoife Sargent! I’m your new VP! I am first year historian and as VP I will be around all year to help represent your views in various committees to ensure all your welfare needs are met! I’ll be working closely with Jess, your brilliant new president, to make college even better for everyone. In my spare time, aside from procrastinating doing my degree, I love rock-climbing, playing guitar and poetry! And of course, as your resident Derry girl, I’m always around if you want a wee cuppa tea and a chat :)

(jcr-vicepresident@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Treasurer: Neelakshi Dua

Hi, I’m Neelakshi (she/her), a first year economist and the new Treasurer! Two fun facts about me are that I’m allergic to caffeine but you’ll never catch me without a cup of tea/ coffee and that I have a Guinness world record. I’m always open to a conversation (any excuse to not work) so please feel free to come and talk to me about anything!

(jcr-treasurer@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Secretary: Isabelle Pallister

I’m Isabelle (she/her), a first year HSPS student, and I will be your JCR secretary this year! Prepare to extremely sick of getting my emails, but I will of course make up for it with a gorgeous Corporeal. Please feel free to let me know what your societies and clubs have going on, I am more than happy to promote them in the Corporeal and on the social media. As the cherry on top, I’m in charge of the snacks for open meetings, so make sure you show up for free food (and to help us meet quorum pretty please). I love movies and music and have delicious taste in both – saw Lana del Rey live BTW – so I’ll happily go on at you about either. Most importantly, I’m a woman of the people, so don’t hesitate to email with any concerns or questions about life at Corpus. Xoxo

Academic and Access: Shifaa Rashid

Hello everyone! My name is Shifaa and I’m your new Access Officer🎉
I can often be heard in New Court rolling off the same spiel I give all the prospective students (soz to all the people I’ve been told I have distracted from doing their work😬)
When I’m procrastinating, I will be chasing all of you down to do some outreach work for Corpus!🥰

(jcr-access@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Sports and Societies: Michael O’Donnell

I’m Michael and I’m your new sports and societies officer, which means I won’t be sending you guys too many emails. I’ll be in charge of helping you start any new sports and societies you’d like to be created, so if you have any ideas, please come to me and we’ll sort something out. I’m a first year economist who’s happy to do anything but work so I’ll be excited to help you guys out. Also, I’ll be in charge of attempting a return of the corpus challenge this new year!

Green: Calista Eitel-Porter

Hey everyone - I’m Calista (she/her)! I’m a first-year NatSci and am your green officer this year. I’ll be working on recycling collections for more items, setting up second-hand clothes swaps and anything else sustainability-related you’d like me to try. I can bring up your ideas with the college, so if you have any requests or suggestions for how the college can improve, please just drop me an email. In my spare time you can probably find me falling off the bouldering wall or showing people photos of my cat!

(jcr-green@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Computing: Ben Browning

Hiya! I'm Ben (he/him) and I'm a second-year Computer Science student from Oxford. As your Computing Officer, I'll be making sure the JCR's tech works smoothly, and managing the website. I'll always be happy to help if you have any computing problems, so please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Welfare: Leila Branfoot

Hi, I’m Leila (she/her), a first year MMLer from O*ford (don’t fight me ok) and one of this year’s welfare officers! Things you should know about me are that I adore raccoons, hash browns and a good ol’ frolic in the great outdoors. Although the rowers I cox might tell you otherwise, I’m generally a pretty calm, friendly gal, always up for a chat (plus afternoon tea, preferably). Uni (and life in general) can be tough - I’m here to bring some everyday joy to college and to support and advocate for all Corpus students, whatever difficulties you’re up against <3

(jcr-welfare3@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Welfare: Dan Sargent

(jcr-welfare2@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

(jcr-welfare1@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Gender Equalities: Alice Abraham

Hey, I’m Alice (she/her) a first year English student and your new gender equalities officer!! In this role I will work towards making Corpus a more welcoming and inclusive space for all gender identities. In my spare time I like hiking, convincing myself reading for pleasure is still possible, and fuelling my caffeine addiction (if I’m not in the library there’s a 90% chance you’ll find me at prêt…). Please don’t hesitate to come and talk to me about any gender related issues— via Instagram, a note in my pidge, or in person <3

(jcr-gender@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

LGBTQ+: Benjamin Bowers

Hi! I’m Benjamin (he/him), a first-year AMES student, and I’m your LGBTQ+ Officer! You’ll probably spot me crying in the library or enjoying a nice £3.45 bottle of wine. If you’re an LGBTQ+ student and have any issues/queer-ies/just want a chat, then I’m the person to talk to. I’m always happy to support any of you LGBTQ+ corpuscles, so don’t be afraid to reach out <3

(jcr-lbgt@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Ethnic Minorities: Ayesha Miah

Hi everyone! My name is Ayesha (she/her) and I am a first year Geographer. As your Ethnic Minorities Officer I hope I can help make Corpus more welcoming for students from all backgrounds, cultures, and religions. When I am not doing work for my very serious degree, you can probably find me procrastinating in the library or watching movies (my most favourite thing in the world!). Feel free to come and talk to me about any concerns (or film recs) <3

(jcr-ethnicminorities@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Disabled Students: Katie Meldrum

Hello I’m Katie (she/her), second year philosophy student and your new DSO. I’ll be another (hopefully) friendly face around college to help you deal with all disability related problems! When not in the library (rare) I can be found rowing on the cam, nursing a pint, or hibernating at my Newnham residency probably watching star wars.

(jcr-dso@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

Entertainments: Livia Bell

I’m Livia Bell — THE first year Classicist, and this year’s Entertainments Officer! To distract from the crippling stress of Full Term, I have grand plans to schedule enough slacks, pub quizzes, super-bops and open mic nights to kill off a Victorian child.

My default fun fact is that I play the harp, but I also love board games, Romantic/jazz music and charity shopping. As well as planning slacks, I tend to pass my time in Cambridge singing with various Chamber Choirs/Opera Soc and crocheting (abysmally). I was driven to apply for Ents Officer because of the incredible themed birthday parties I was lucky enough to have as a child – I’d love to bring some of this creativity and energy to the Corpus party scene!

If you have any ideas regarding events you want hosted (or just want to ramble about Avatar: The Last Airbender) I am always up for a chat!

(jcr-ents@corpus.cam.ac.uk)

International Students: Tridha Haritwal

Hi! I’m Tridha (she/her) and I’m a first year PBS student. As international students officer it’s my job to make you feel welcome at Corpus and comfortable to celebrate diversity! When I’m not in the crypts of the library, you may see me around Corpus wearing only black and calling it a fit or trying to convince someone to ride e-scooters with me. But even if you’re not up for that, please feel free to reach out to me with ideas for festive events and improvements or even just to have a chat when things seem unfamiliar or overwhelming - as a psychologist, therapy is part of my job description :)

(jcr-international@corpus.cam.ac.uk)
